William Ward Watkin(1886-1952) was the first Supervising Architect of Rice Institute and the first chair of theDept. of Architecture at Rice Institute. His daughter, Ray Watkin Strange, is a Ricegraduate and significant supporter of Rice University and the Fondren Library.
